NATURAL PLAYGROUNDS THESIS

My thesis was done on natural playgrounds in the city. There is a great need for better, more stimulating yet safe playgrounds in the inner city, especially in high-density residential areas such as Sunnyside, Pretoria. The thesis investigates how natural materials can be incorporated into playgrounds to encourage cooperative, creative and engaging play that develops children physically, emotionally, cognitively and socially, whilst at the same time responding to the context of safety issues and vandalism.
